ReCODE Program/ Cognitive/ Brain Health & Wellness
Alzheimer's/ Dementia/ Prevention:
There are multiple different types of Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease is the most common one. Other types include Lewy Body, Vascular, and Frontotemporal to name a few. Regardless of the type of Dementia, this neurological condition can become quite debilitating. However, recent research shows that there is something that can be done to help treat the symptoms of the disease as well as prevent its progression. A combination of nutrition, supplements, lifestyle, and cognitive exercises are all key components to managing this disease.
If you are experiencing subjective cognitive decline, or have family members who have Alzheimer's or dementia, it is very important that you take action now. It is very difficult to recover cognition if it has gone too far. Early detection and intervention is the key to abating dementia. We offer cognitive testing to help you better gauge where you are at. Our Cognoscopy can be the first step to preventing cognitive decline in you. (See below for more information on what a Cognoscopy is)
ReCODE Program
Dr Dale Bredesen is a pioneer in the field of Alzheimer's and dementia and he created the ReCODE program to help people suffering from this horrible disease. (Click here to be directed to the Apollo heath website to learn more about this program). Our provider Wendy, is ReCODE certified and is able to help you navigate you or your loved one's journey and fight against this horrible disease. ReCODE is also a great program for preventing cognitive decline in those who are at risk for developing Alzheimer's or Dementia, or for people who are experiencing mild subjective issues with cognition or memory. It is a wonderful program and it works very well. However, understanding how all the ReCODE components work together can be quite complex and often taxing to patients and families. We have extensive training in this area. Wendy's own mother has Alzheimer's so she knows first hand how effective this program can be. Wendy is also currently working directly with Dr. Dale Bredesen on a pilot program for residents of an assisted living facility in California. She knows the ins and outs of this program and she knows what it takes to get results. On a personal level, Wendy is very open about the fact that she is a carrier of one copy of the APOE4 gene variant herself putting her at risk for developing Alzheimer's disease. So she not only knows the program, she is actively living it herself. (See Wendy's introduction video below) ZOE Integrative Medicine also has occupational therapists available who are trained in providing cognitive therapy for those experiencing cognitive decline. Our comprehensive treatment program offers true hope for patients and families suffering from this disease. While the ReCODE program is not covered by Medicare, some portions of the evaluation may be covered by Medicare.

Cognoscopy (full cognitive evaluation) $350:
What is a Cognoscopy? It's an idea more than an actual word. You have heard of microscopy, arthroscopy, endoscopy, colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, etc. These are all words to describe taking a deeper look into a particular body part or area. A "COGNOSCOPY" is exactly that; taking a deeper look into your cognitive health and finding out how your brain is doing. Prevention is EVERYTHING when it comes to brain health! Knowing where you stand now is the first step to improving your own brain health for the future. Anyone can do this "cognoscopy" evaluation, but it is HIGHLY recommended for people with a family history of Alzheimer's and Dementia or if you are experiencing ANY memory issues or feeling that your brain is not as sharp as it used to be. Early detection is absolutely critical. Once areas of the brain die, they are very difficult to recover.2 visits are included in this. Includes full cognitive assessment.

What's included in a Cognoscopy:
- Detailed cognitive assessment sent to you via email that you complete from the comfort of your own home. The assessment accurately measures core elements of your cognitive function, including memory, attention, reasoning, and verbal abilities. .
- Screenings for anxiety and depression as both of these can exacerbate cognitive decline
- Order for blood work and labs that are specific to brain health and cognitive function. Payment for these labs can be run through your insurance OR with a discounted self-pay option. If desired, an order can also be provided to test for the APOE4 genetic variant which puts someone at high risk for developing dementia/ Alzheimer's Disease.
- Order for a NeuroQuant MRI which looks at all of your brain structures and compares them in a normative data base so you can see where you are compared to other people your age. This study provides objective data which not only tells you where you are now, but provides a baseline for future scans, so you can continue to monitor your brain health for years to come. Payment for the MRI can be run through your insurance or using a self-pay option through SimonMed.
- Detailed list of recommended brain health supplements
- Brain Health Cookbook
- TWO appointments The first appointment is the initial evaluation to collect cognitive data and to provide the orders for the labs and MRI, with an introduction to the recommended brain health supplements. The second appointment is to review all of your results to create a personalized plan for your own cognitive health.
- Can be done in-person or via telemedicine
Our Direct ReCODE Care Program
The initial cognitive evaluation or "Cognoscopy" as listed above, is a one time cost of $350 and includes the first 2 visits with the provider. If you have traditional Medicare (not an Advantage plan) the fees for these initial visits can typically be billed to Medicare. Additionally, because our provider is a certified practitioner, the labs can often be run through insurance which is significant cost savings to the patient. This is typically approximately $855 savings for the first set of labs for the ReCODE report, and a total of $1824 in savings for the first year, just in labs.
However, there are additional services that are required for patients who join the ReCODE program that are NOT covered by Medicare. The Apollo website states that the average ReCODE provider is $400 per hour and some charge significantly more, and you typically meet with them once per month or every other month. However we choose to do things slightly different in hopes of providing more consistency which leads to better success. Instead of a per hour fee, we have a low cost Direct ReCODE Care program fee of $200 per month with a 6 month minimum commitment. This fee includes the creation of the initial ReCODE report and the follow-up report done at 6 months. It also includes one 30-minute telemedicine appointment with the provider every month, plus unlimited patient portal messaging and text directly to the provider to make sure all your day to day questions are answered. The provider has designated times in her day to make sure she is able to respond to all of her Direct ReCODE Care patients within 24-48 hours. This DRC fee also gives access to a video series that we have created and continue to regularly update which helps explain and simplify the ReCODE program, including tips and tricks to success. We feel that this model provides much better consistent, on-going, and direct support for patients as they try to navigate the program. We have found that this increased support is what helps and creates better outcomes.
Furthermore, ZOE Integrative Medicine has a neurocognitive occupational therapist available who is trained in providing cognitive therapy for those experiencing cognitive decline and traditional Medicare can be billed for these services. Our comprehensive treatment program offers true hope for patients and families suffering from this disease.
Our goal is to help you be successful and save your cognition for years to come! The ReCODE program is extensive but it works! Frequent support can make or break yours or your loved one's success in the program.
